Linksys router "connected" but not connected?
Hi, can anyone solve this lil prob? I have moved home and Internet Service Provider (from Virgin to +net) and now my lynksys wireless G broadband router WRT54GS - 2.4GHZ 802.11g won't connect to the Internet. Everything appears OK, it says it's connected (IP address, subnet mask etc. all assigned) but I can't access websites. Any ideas?

Re: Linksys router "connected" but not connected?
Supply the following information please.
OS running on all affected systems Make & models of all equipment (routers, network cards, modems). Wired or wireless? What wireless encryption is in use? (WPA, WPA2, WEP, None) Browsers being used (Firefox, IE, Safari, Opera,...) What security software is installed? (Firewalls, AV, Spyware, Malware,...) Open up a command prompt (Start > run > cmd) Type the following bolded commands and post the results for each affected machine. ipconfig /all ping www.google.com ping 74.125.53.99 Note: To post results of commands, alternate click on the top of the command prompt > edit > select all > alternate click on the top of the command prompt > edit > copy > paste in a message here. If you are on a computer that can't connect to the internet then paste the contents in a text document and save it to a portable media like a flash drive, then use an internet capable machine to post the contents.

Re: Linksys router "connected" but not connected?
Hi Lorjack, you've been to my rescue before I recall. I'm actually on the internet now using the computer in question but I'm plugged in to my girlfriends old router (double entendre unintended) which was the one that came with the plusnet service (it's a BT Voyager 2110). The only problem being that my ipod touch won't connect to the net with this router, only with the Linksys one.
So it seems its a router configuration issue with the new ISP so I'll have to get on the phone with Plusnet me thinks. I may be back if they can't help. Thanks for replying, again. |
