Belkin model F5D8633-4 VPN access problems

phew have a real doozy of a problem that my IT department cannot solve.
Firstly Router and all internet access works perfectly.
Access to the company VPN is throught contivity client.
Contivity session established perfectly and quickly and can access the corporate intranet and the internet without a problem.
But cannot establish a session to Outlook, Microsoft communicator or Netmeeting. All time out.
IT were able to trace my session requests and all were responded to but the session response did not reach the laptop.
Have restored factory settings and rebuilt Router configuration from scratch no change.
Situation no different when connected to via cable to the Router or through wireless.
Connected via broadband at work and access to Outlook, Communicator & Netmeeting perfect through contivity.
I am sure I am missing something on the Router configuration.
My IT department response mmmm no idea - buy a new Router !!!! Yeah right.
Anyone out there able to help ?
