problem with wired LAN connection
hi .. i have an internet connection which is configured with a linksys WRT54G router... I have a desktop connected via a wired connection and a laptop through wireless... it was working fine till yesterday when the wired connection just stopped working... i tried changing the cable but still no luck.. today i connected the wired connection directly to my laptop and it worked.. i tried the other OS i have in my desktop and dint work there either... so i guess the problem is with the desktop PC's LAN port.. please correct me if i m wrong... my motherboard is hardly two months old ... the problem i get is the internet icon says limited or no connectivity and that it cant obtain an ip address of its own.. i assigned manually too but still internet does not work,,, pls help

Re: problem with wired LAN connection
If you booted into a different O/S that worked previously, it sounds like the on-board NIC has indeed died. This is not that uncommon.
