Ports 0 and 1, closed?
So my friend just got a brand new HP laptop with Windows Vista Home Premium 64-bit. Her father is a crazy person and wants all of his information hidden from the outside world, so he constantly runs ShieldsUp. Well recently, he has noticed that ShieldsUp has been showing Ports 0 and 1 as "closed" instead of "stealth", which he so desperately wants it at, to the point where he has cut off internet for her to keep it that way. Now my goal is to get it so she can continue to use internet while his ports continue to show up as "stealth". Does anyone know of what she could/should do to do so?
She claims her dad "tracked programs" and came to the conclusion Vista was doing this. It makes sense since her computer is the only computer in the house with Vista on it. I personally don't have access to the computer and she will have a very hard time sending me any HiJack file (if it's necessary here) but I will come back with answers if there's any questions. Programs she's running: AVG Free Oovoo (Like Skype, used for video chats) Trillian (Cerulean Studios, IM program) Firefox/IE/Chrome are all installed, dunno which she actually uses regularly That's the majority of it, plus probably some bull[censored] HP programs that run once in awhile. I could ask which are running if that's of any concern? My best guess is it had something to do with Oovoo or Trillian because both involve connecting directly with another computer at one point or another. Thanks guys. Hope you can help. |

Could you share the total network information with us? One thing is the exact make and model of the modem and router to start.

Re: Ports 0 and 1, closed?
She's not exactly the most helpful person at this.. haha
Router is Linksys Everything on that ShieldsUp page is stealth except ports 0 and 1 (obviously). All the tests pass otherwise... Her laptop is the only computer connecting to a wireless network in the house (if that helps?) and the only one with Vista. |
