Ethernet Connection At Work

Hi,
Alright, I am at work right now. I brought my laptop from home to work. I run the laptop at my home on wireless. At work, we have an ethernet cord we plug into the network to get online. I have a RealTek RTL8169/8110 Family Gigabit Ethernet NIC. Do I have to do something on the network to have it allow my computer to get on. Cause I know the internet works but when I plug it in it says cable unplugged. But I know it works, because I run 2 computers at work throught it. Do I need to download a driver or something? Please help. Going to lunch now.

Re: Ethernet Connection At Work

You most likely need to talk to your Network Admin, about getting access to the network. Depending on how the network / users are configured, users might be tied to a specific MAC address for there work station.

Yep talk the your IT dept. you might not be able to add a computer to the network without their permission.
