Re: server & redirecting port 80 on router
Hi marcopolon2,
You'll need a crossover cable to connect between the Pirelli and the switch, all other cables should be standard Cat5/Cat5e/Cat6 straight through cables. As for the OS, that's why I said in one of my previous posts: Ensure you're buying the OEM O/S and not just the CALs! Concurrent Access Licenses (CALs) refer to the ammount of people (or devices) you can have accessing data on the server at any one time. They are purchased in bundles of 5. I know the cost is off-putting, but the best choices for what you want to do are absolutely Windows Server or LAMP!

Re: server & redirecting port 80 on router
As long as you have network cables to go to each of the servers, the gigaset and the patch panel, then yes, all you need is a single crossover to the switch.

Re: server & redirecting port 80 on router
OK, at this moment I've got installed Windows XP Professional with VNC, IIS, MySQL, PHP and KFServer. Person responsible for technologies at the company at which I've got intern told me that tomorrow he's going to buy switch. He told the device should be able to recognise cable by its own so there's no need to buy other cable. At this moment we simply disconnected NetShare UltimateNAS Server because I heard from him that at this moment it is not used. It occured they don't have password to Pirelli written anywhere in the company so it will be possible to configure it tommorow, after asking the employee who knows this password.
In other words, there are some things which I need to configure tomorrow on Pirelli, after connecting the switch. Those are as follows: Quote:
http://images40.fotosik.pl/159/130c385016346224.jpg <- configuration on server http://images49.fotosik.pl/163/2e71b83f28bb2f5c.jpg <- IP addresses and NAT configuration Is this whole solution optimum (except the fact that it is XP :-D)? Are there any things which may or should be improved (except the fact that VNC doesn't support any encryption :-P)? Do I guess properly that this whole configuration of NAT is just writing in Pirelli values to the table (number of port, IP address and number of redirected port)? Why should some of those ports be redirected to 192.168.1.2 and some to 192.168.1.3? Greetings! |

Re: server & redirecting port 80 on router
Actually, it would not work with the same port configured to more than one computer, So the whole solution wouldn't work that well.

Re: server & redirecting port 80 on router
Thanks. I connected NetShare Ultimate NAS Server and Hewlett-Packard Server to switch and switch to Pirelli Eth1 without changing connections from Eth2,3,4 on Pirelli. By the way I also know (I forgot to write about it) that there is printer connected to the network. I heard from person who uses this printer really often that those two cables connected to patch panel on 2 and 8 are responsible for internet and fax.
I installed program called Zenmap (Nmap). I run the following command "nmap -sP 192.168.0/24" which I found on one internet site. The "Nmap Output" is as follows: Quote:

Re: server & redirecting port 80 on router
Hello!
I've got some further questions. 1. Address from the outside. The man came to me and told that he wants to prepare something in PHP and MySQL, also something with FTP. In other words he wants me to copy one script to the server and I need to know where I should copy files (which directory in inetpub) and whether there is any need for further configuration of these services (what to do and how to do). I run on my computer remote desktop (with the use of VNC Viewer 4) with the following data: 192.168.1.3 and the given password. In the remote desktop I can see Win XP Proff working on the server. My first question is - how can I check what IP address I need to use from the outside (e.g. from my home in other city)? There was something like this already run on the remote desktop: Code:
http://192.168.1.254/index.cgi?... Local Host | Local Address | Public IP Address | Protocols | Status | Action 192.168.1.200 | 192.168.1.200 | 87.205.xx.xxx | FTP - TCP Any -> 21 | Active | iX HTTP - TCP Any -> 80 2. Domain. I am going to buy domain on home.pl. How to connect site (and where to copy files to the server? - in Inetpub I've got "aaa", "AdminScripts", "iissamples", "mailroot", "Scripts", "wwwroot") with the bought domain address? I checked on http://www.db.ripe.net/whois by writing this address 87.205.xx.xxx and it informed me that I've got netname INTERNETIA. So I checked in the internet that Netia has got the following DNS addresses: 1) primary 213.241.79.38, 2) secondary 213.241.79.37, 3) secondary 83.238.255.76. On https://home.pl/register/domain there was need to choose name of domain, then write client ID, additional informations (server, e-shop, e-mail, none). The crucial point was to choose one of four: 1) park domain on home.pl servers, with the possibility of using free WWW wizard - standard choice, 2) connect domain to already existing service on home.pl, 3) delegate domain outside home.pl (to the given DNS), 4) redirect traffic from domain to the given address of webpage / WWW server and address of mail account / server. I decided to choose the third one - and then 213.241.79.38 & 83.238.255.76. (There are also some other things installed - TYPSoft FTP Server and GuildFTPd FTP Daemon). And I still couldn't find what was wrong with my way of using Nmap. Greetings and thanks for help :-)! |

Re: server & redirecting port 80 on router
You would use the external IP, which is listed here.

Re: server & redirecting port 80 on router
Hello!
SHARING DIRECTORY IN THE NETWORK. What I want to do now is to enable access to the disc on the server so that people can upload and download files and directories from the server. I know it is not a safe thing to share the folder on the network. But I don't have to enable access to the whole disc, I can do it only with one given directory. I shared it in this way: Name_of_directory -> RMB (right mouse button) -> Sharing and Security -> Sharing -> Network sharing and security: [X] Share this folder on the network, Share name: [Name_of_directory], [X] Allow network users to change my files. The other thing was to change name of the server: My Computer -> RMB -> Properties -> General -> I changed name to "hpserwer". I enter "Start -> Search" on my laptop (not on remote desktop but on my laptop when I am connected to local network of the company). I choose "Find other elements -> Computers" and write "hpserwer". The result is "no founds". What should I do? Greetings! |
