OS: vista ultimate 64 bit, xp sp3 32 bit

gigabyte gn-wp01gs wireless pci card problems.

this thing is a pain in my ***
first off, i tried using drivers from the cd that it came with on my vista 64 bit, no luck. then i tried downloading the drivers from the site that were released a year later, no luck. so i thought my os was the problem...but i read a newegg review saying how it worked out of the box with no hastle in ubuntu 9.04, so i tried botting into ubuntu with no luck. then i start thinking to myself what the hell is wrong. i deleted the ubuntu partition and spent the whole day setting up a vista/xp sp3 dual boot (i suck at these things). then i finally got it working about an hour ago, installed the drivers from the disc, and guess what? no luck.
when i was on vista the utility that scans for networks wouldnt even pop up. in xp it does, but it doesnt find jack ****. so now im thinking that the damn card is DOA or something. but the thing thats odd is that the little lights on the card light up and everything.

PHEW. if you got this far...congrats!!! :p theres more....
i had a problem putting the card into my pci slot. tried my best to get a clear pic...sound card is in the way.
the gold isnt all the way in the slot towards the end of the card.

would this be the problem?
thanks in advance.
