[SOLVED] Cannot Recieve Packets

Hi,
Over the past few weeks I've been having issues with my network connection.

XP Pro SP 3
AVG antivirus and Ad-Aware, before that Macafee total protection 2009

After a certain point my network would no longer receive packets.
Ping will sort of work (responses are in 32ms range but half time out)

Now my computer can negotiate an IP but keeps sending but cannot receive packets back.

802.11g network, comcast cable.
This computer is the only one with the issue on the network.

Linksys WUsbf54g usb device
router is a di-524

Ethernet adapter Wireless Network Connection 5:
connection-specific DNS Suffix .:

DHCP: 192.168.0.1

reply from 209.191.93.52 bytes 32, time 71, ttl=50
packets sent 4, recieved 2, lost 2 min 71ms, max 76ms, average 73.

hopefully i'm in the right forum.

Re: Cannot Recieve Packets

Register at DSLReports and run their Line Quality Tests. It's best to run this test with a direct wired connection to eliminate any wireless issues from the results. It's useful many times to run this test several times, and we'd like to see each of the results. Post the results link from the top of the test display page for each test run here.

The link to post is near the top of the page and looks like:

If you wish to post this result to a forum, please copy/paste this URL
http://www.dslreports.com/linequality/nil/2357195 <- sample only, yours will obviously be different!
and your IP will be disguised.

Copy/paste that link here.

Note: You will have to enable PING (ICMP) request response either in your router (if you have one), or in your computer's firewall for direct modem connections. This is very important to get the most important part of the test to run.

DSLReports

Here's also the Line Quality Tests FAQ to help you understand the results. This will answer some questions about the line quality display.

Re: Cannot Recieve Packets

Thanks, I let it sit all night w/out power and it can connect now.
My speed test is this:
http://www.dslreports.com/linequality/nil/2538084

I'm going to try to continue downloading a file from fileplanet and see what it does.

I'll post another speed test if it fails again.

Re: Cannot Recieve Packets

additionally about 100mb after posting that log last night the connection went down again.
I then let the computer run overnight and woke up with 17megs received and the connection working.
during the interruption i received "connection interrupted: network link was lost while negotiating this page"

Re: Cannot Recieve Packets

Well, you appear to indeed have problems from the modem outward. I'd run a couple more of those tests, but I'm guessing it's an ISP issue.

Re: Cannot Recieve Packets

Thanks! If it continues to occur after I speak to my ISP on just one computer then i'll take it to the malware forum.
