VPN Problem (may need test client)
I have been trying to setup a VPN with my friend for a very long time now without success. Right now, where we are at, is my friend's computer recognizes the host/server IP but it gets stuck at the verifying username and password part during the connection. I have done pretty much everything as far as opening up ports (1723) and I have my Server computer setup as DMZ behind my WRT54G v3 router with dd-wrt v24 SP2 VPN firmware. I have contacted my ISP to make sure everything on my end is setup right. Here is my setup:
ISP>Antenna(Wireless)>Modem>WRT54G Router>My Computer here is my friend's setup: ISP(Comcast)>Motorola SB5101 modem>WRT54G2 v1 (linksys firmware)>His Computer We are both running windows vista with firewalls turned off and everything using the windows remote access/VPN tools built in the operating system. We had Hamachi up and running but there were too many restrictions/I wanted to not use third party software. The most recent thing I have done was had my friend use pptpclnt to my server ip and everything was good on his log. I was running pptpsrv on my computer and got NOTHING on my end. This makes me want to think the connection into my network is getting lost somewhere. As I said in the title, I may need someone to test the connection to see if they can connect successfully to determine whether the problem is in fact on my end. Thank you for any help. This has been an ongoing issue for quite some time. Thanks again. Darkfox3393
