[SOLVED] port problem
hello,
i have a problem with opening specific ports, i am trying to open ports 6112 - 6119, i used the instructions on portforwwrd.com and yet when i use the telnet command to reach the dest host throught that port it either freeze up or just lose connection, and when i use the port checker program, portforward.com provides it says my port is either closed or unreachable. im running windows vista home premium, i have an edimax DR-6204wg router and a motrolla cable modem. i have no firewall active. can some1 plz help me thx in advance |

If it says the port is closed, the port forwarding is probably working, but the application isn't responding to requests.
Does the game work properly if you connect directly to the cable modem?

It's possible, but for those ports, it's not all that likely.
Connect directly to the modem (you may need to do a power cycle), and then go to start>run (or in Vista, start>all programs>accessories>run.) Type cmd, then in the command prompt ipconfig. Take note of the IP address that is listed, then check the external IP address at www.portforward.com. Are they the same or different?

With that connection, does the PF port checker still say the ports are not open?

If it's still saying the ports are not open, my guess is you either have a software firewall or Internet Security application blocking you.

Have you checked in the WC3 folder to make sure the port settings are correct?

I would think in one of the files in the C:\Program Files\Blizzard\Warcraft3 folder.

i recently upgraded my internet connection and the problem was solved so apparently it was some sort of an ISP problem.
to bad i have to succumb to the ISP's reign of terror and pay more money per month to receive the minimum i deserve thx alot for all your help |
