Lightning Fried Me - Maybe
After a lightning storm my Internet would no longer work. Reconnecting all wires and hard resets of my modem, router, and computer did nothing. I also noticed the Ethernet light on my modem and router were not illuminated. I came to the conclusion that the lightning must have fried my router. After replacing it my network was back. However, my PC that is wired from router still won't connect. Network Cable is Unplugged message. Is it possible that the lightning could've also fried my network card?

Re: Lightning Fried Me - Maybe
It is possible. However i would try reinstalling the drivers for the card.

Re: Lightning Fried Me - Maybe
Quite possible. If lightning got the router, it's not uncommon for it to get the attached Ethernet devices.

Re: Lightning Fried Me - Maybe
Okay reinstalling the driver did nothing.
The light does not come on when plugged in. In order for the surge to come through on my Ethernet cable it would have also had to of passed through my modem. However, my modem still works fine while my router and ethernet card do not. |

Re: Lightning Fried Me - Maybe
Have you tried troubleshooting the drivers from Device Manager?

Re: Lightning Fried Me - Maybe
If you have no link lights then the card is probably dead. You can check to see if it works by connecting directly to the modem.
