[SOLVED] New Hardware=Faster Internet?

I have a very old modem and router, and I'm wondering if getting a new modem and router will make my wireless internet connection any faster?

or

Should I just make or buy a really long ethernet cable to connect my computer (upstairs) to the router (downstairs)?

Re: New Hardware=Faster Internet?

It depends on what your current speed is. Although, pretty much any hardware that you can have except for maybe a 10 mbit LAN, will be far faster than your internet speed.

Re: New Hardware=Faster Internet?

Ok, so as long as your LAN operates at atleast 100 mb then you don't have to worry. 19.18 Mb < 100 Mb
