Controlling speed of other computers on my network
hello all, I've tried searching for answers but can't seem to find one just like I want.
I have a single computer to which my Linksey's WAG 200 modem wireless router is attached to.. My main computer controls this. My children have a combination of lap tops (three) and desk tops (two) that are connected to the internet from my Linksey's.. What I would like to do is to control either the total down loads they use or the speed they use to prevent them using up all my monthly adsl quota. My WAG 200 only permits me to limit the time they use their computers.. So, firstly, because they are connecting to the internet directly through the modem, is this actually a network? or is it just six individual computers connecting to the internet? Secondly, what do I need to do to set up my main computer to control the speed or down loads of their computers? Ted. Tas Australia. |

Re: Controlling speed of other computers on my network
What's a Linksey's WAG 200? Are you talking about a Linksys WAG200G? You need to be SPECIFIC as to model numbers if you expect quality help.
You can't control the individual usage from any SOHO router, and trying to control it from a single computer is an exercise in futility. Unless you have an intelligent gateway that enforces quotas, you'll have to install something on each machine for this task.
