Evil network connection is excellent and i can use skype but i cannot browse ie or firefox

hi, 5 months ago my mother bought a compaq persario cq60 she then got the o2 mobile internet and she could browse and use skype as normal. Since then she gave me the laptop and i deleted the o2 application from the laptop as i was getting bt broadband in my home. I eventually got a bt voyager 2110 wireless modem with the broadband installed and i set it up with my laptop. The network connection say excellent and i can use skype no problem but when i went to use internet explorer i got cannot display webpage! so i got back onto bt and the technician helped me reset the dsn and wep key etc and it still does not work! i have since tried installing windows explorer 7 and firefox but i get cannot display webpage from both. I have also tried reseting the dsn, internet protocol, winsock i have tried pinging google etc and scanning my computer for viruses, turning off firewall everything shows perfect signal! I set my compter in safe mode and tried to browse and still no use! Im using a compaq persario cq60, windows vista home basic, service pack 1,32 bit os can anyone please help?! Re: network connection is excellent and i can use skype but i cannot browse ie or fir

TCP/IP stack repair options for use with Windows Vista.

Start, All Programs\Accessories and right click on Command Prompt, select "Run as Administrator" to open a command prompt.

In the command prompt window that opens, type type the following commands:

Reset WINSOCK entries to installation defaults: netsh winsock reset catalog

Reset IPv4 TCP/IP stack to installation defaults. netsh int ipv4 reset reset.log

Reset IPv6 TCP/IP stack to installation defaults. netsh int ipv6 reset reset.log

Reboot the machine.

Next, I'd like to see this when you have a connection to the Internet.

Try these simple tests.

Hold the Windows key and press R, then type CMD (COMMAND for W98/WME) to open a command prompt:

In the command prompt window that opens, type type the following commands one at a time, followed by the Enter key:

NOTE: For the items below in red surrounded with < >, see comments below for the actual information content, they are value substitutions from the previous IPCONFIG command output! Do NOT type <computer_IP_address> into the command, that won't work.

IPCONFIG /ALL

PING <computer_IP_address>

PING <default_gateway_address>

PING <dns_servers>

PING 206.190.60.37

PING yahoo.com

Right click in the command window and choose Select All, then hit Enter to copy the contents to the clipboard.
Paste the results in a message here.

<computer_IP_address> - The IP Address of your computer, obtained from the IPCONFIG command above.

<default_gateway_address> - The IP address of the Default Gateway, obtained from the IPCONFIG command above.

<dns_servers> - The IP address of the first (or only) address for DNS Servers, obtained from the IPCONFIG command above.

If you are on a machine with no network connection, use a floppy, USB disk, or a CD-RW disk to transfer a text file with the information to allow pasting it here.
