On and off connection
Hi, i have problems with my internet connection. A few days ago it just cut off and i had the limited or no connectivity message. I tried different kinds of things; going to command prompt and rest the winsock entries and tcp/ip and nothing seems to change. I then thought it may be the cable so i changed it and the message does go but i have no access to the internet, i am sending and receiving packets but i cannot load any web pages. After a while i received again the limited or no connectivity message, it comes and goes (from connected to limitied). I thought it then may be a problem with the router but my brother is running wireless with no problems on the same network and also, when he came and tried the cable connection from my room, it worked without any problems. So the problem must be with my computer or hardware. When i run the network diagnostics tool on 'Help and support', if my connection shows limited or no connectivity, then everything passes, but if it shows connected then my network adapters show FAILED. I am quite confused as to what the problem may be.
Any help would be greatly appreciated, i know this issue has been posted many times on the forum, but none have been similar to my situation in which all other computers work exept mine. I am running windows xp professional with SP3. thank you |

Re: On and off connection
Supply the following information please.
OS running on all affected systems Make\models of all equipment (routers, network cards, modems). Wired or wireless? What wireless encryption is in use? Browsers being used (Firefox, IE, Safari, Opera,...) What security software is installed? Open up a command prompt (Start > run > cmd) Type the following bolded commands and post the results for each affected machine. ipconfig /all ping www.google.com ping 74.125.53.99 Note: To post results of commands, alternate click on the top of the command prompt > edit > select all > alternate click on the top of the command prompt > edit > copy > paste in a message here. If you are on a computer that can't connect to the internet then paste the contents in a text document and save it to a portable media like a flash drive, then use an internet capable machine to post the contents. Verify that all network drivers are installed. To open device manager: start > run > devmgmt.msc If there are any !, ?, or X in the list then you need to reinstall the drivers or enable the device.
