I lost my internetconnection (physical wire) but I have wireless

Hello
A friend of mine asked me if Icould help him with his internet connection he has a hp pavilion 501n with a 2wire1701hg gateway, winxp sp3 ,the thing is that I checked if the wire was faulty , and it was not ,checked connections they were ok,the light on the 2wire didnt show any thing wrong, so I went to control panel, system, device manager and on the icon of the net adapter 3 of the 4 had an exclamation sign , and then I look for the properties and found a message that said that a controller was missing or damaged , my question is do I have to look for the controller for the 2wire the thing is how do I do this I almost forgot I installed an ethernet card the pc detected it correctly but it still wouldnt work could you please help or advice me
thank you ADrian C. from mexico

You need to reinstall/update the drivers for the network card.

The drivers can be located on the CD or from the manufacturer's website.
