monitor how much is downloaded by each laptop connected to a wireless network

Hi,

I have a wireless network at home (Belkin router, WAP2 encryption) which I share with my flatmate. I would like to monitor how much is downloaded by each laptop connected to the wireless network, so I know how much he and I use.
Any suggestions?
Thanks in advance.

This software seems to only monitor what I download, I'm looking for something that tells me what the different laptops connected to my wireless network download

That's going to be a lot more complicated. The only place to monitor that is at the router. You'll have to spend a lot more money on the router to get that capability.

If you consider a router that's compatible with DD-WRT 3rd party firmware, it offers pretty decent monitoring capability, perhaps that would do the trick for you.

I thought you wanted to monitor them individually. If you want to do it as a whole then yes you'll have to get a router that will support that.

Yes, he wants to monitor the individual connections, but I made the assumption that he didn't want to try to install monitoring software on everything.

I may be wrong, but that's the way I'd attack this issue.

Re: monitor how much is downloaded by each laptop connected to a wireless network

Well he only has two computers that he wants to monitor so it won't effect the performance of the network or the computers. Netmeter doesn't use much system resources. I have four computers that i use it on to monitor how much bandwidth i use in a month, just in case my ISP decides to slap on a bandwidth cap.
