LAN chat software

So I have been in need for some time for a instant message/chat program that does not utilize the internet, but instead traverses over the Local Area connection. I have about five computers on the network that I want to have interconnected and be able to chat to each other.

I would prefer to have a program that has the capability to popup when you are inside a game. File swapping would also be a plus but is not required.

It doesn't have to be free, again that would be preferred but is not required to meet my expectations.

Any help on this matter would be greatly appreciated. I have taken a great amount of time researching this topic and have found no chat programs that are able to pop up in game.

Thanks in advance

Re: LAN chat software

Popping up over a full screen running in Direct-X is a bit much to expect.

Yes I thought as much. Thanks for the links, mods please keep this thread open in case someone happens to stumble across any in-game LAN chat programs.
