Can't play at the same time
I just got dsl and have a wireless router. I am protecting everything via MAC address. There are three computers connected to the router. I can connect to the internet and AIM and everything is fine until I try to play online games. One example is Counterstrike and PartyPoker... no two computers at my house can connect. After one computer successfully connects... I try the second and it says I'm already there. How do I fix this?

you may need to manually assign IP addresses to the computers such as if your IP is:
192.168.4.34 for the "host" then on the second comp try 192.168.4.33 just change the last number by one or two from the previous and things will be good. BTW the above IP is completely punched in randomly. if the above IP address does exist i hold no responsibility or correlation to that IP. i releieve my self from that all together. ![]() |

like fox stated, some online games do not allow more than one connection per ISP IP address.....
the only way i can think of to fix this would be to talk to your DSL or cable provider about getting a second and third IP address. (usually means a second modem)

however, games like CS (or rather all hl games) don't matter. I used to play with my brother all the time, and my friends and I used to have LAN parties where we'd all join the same server with 0 problems.

fox... hehehe he said bust... that was a funny.... fox made a funny... get it.. partypoker.... bust... yea ok i stop now. tee hee tee heesecond response. well my friends and i we have lan parties alot... i mean not only do we do up great games like Armies of Exigo, AOE I & II, Dawn of War, but also some of the other great classics. Quake I, II, and III, Liero, and now thanks to the gaming universe we now have LieroX! tee hee and we all use the same IP and i too have DSL as some of you may know. we were having some problems with TCP/IP while playing Heroes of Might & Magic III tho. so i just changed the computers IP address and my computer the one that is here all the time became the host. and all was fine. |
