Hi,
I bought a Linksys USB Wireless adaptor WUSB54GC. I wanted to use it on my Laptop (Acer Travelmate 2480 with XP SP3.) The signal , when using the built-in adaptor, was low so I wanted to relocate the receiver. I disabled the built-in adaptor first. I tested the 54GC directly attached to the Laptop after installing the Software and driver. It was working but not picking up the Network I wanted. I attached it through a 5 ft USB cable (supplied) and tried moving it to various locations. On the cable I received NO signals. I tried reinstalling several times. In my Network Connections Window I now see “Wireless Network Connection 5” I only have the one Adaptor enabled. I guess this is because I reinstalled the Adaptor so many times. Is there a way to go back to Zero or One? (Wireless Network Connection 1) There must be something(s) saved in the Registry. I did the same nonsense on my Desktop!!! Thanks, ![]() Joe

Re: Multiple references to “NOT installed” wireless adaptors.
For XP, you can simply go into Network Connections and rename the connection to whatever you like.

Re: Multiple references to “NOT installed” wireless adaptors.
Thanks (again) John.
I know there are references in the Registry that list several instances of the same Adaptor. I was hoping that there was an easy way to remove the duplicate entries. Windows does not seem to provide a way to remove these entries and does not remove them when one uninstalls the item. I’ve come to the conclusion that there is no simple fix. Thanks again, Joe

Re: Multiple references to “NOT installed” wireless adaptors.
There is no easy way, that's why I suggest renaming it. The extra stuff in the registry is not significant. It's real easy to shoot yourself in the foot tinkering with the registry, and there's really no point.
