invisible firewall

My internet has been blocked from getting to my programs/browser, even when I've turn my firewall( and the windows one) off.

I still have a strong connection but firefox is blank, and it wont load ( or attempt to) any site. I've run many malware/anti virus, and i'm pretty sure that's not it.

The last thing I remember using before this happened is SDfix, so i'm pretty sure it changed some settings or something.

Name of your ISP: Comcast
Make and exact model of the broadband modem: RCA DCM315R
Make and exact model of the router (if a separate unit): lnksys wrt54g v8.2
Make and model of your computer: XPS DXPO51
Version and patch level of Windows on all affected machines, i.e. XP-Home (or XP-Pro), SP1-SP2, Vista, etc: xp Service pack 3
The Internet Browser: Mozilla Firefox 3.0.8
The other computers on the network work fine by the way.

thanks for reading, if there is any more information you need, just ask.

Re: invisible firewall

To open the command prompt: Start > Run > CMD
Then enter the above commands. I think what you did is type them into the run dialog box which will run the command and then instantly close.

Re: invisible firewall

I solved the problem thanks to Johnwill

for people who may have the same problem in the future...
Start, Run, CMD to open a command prompt:

In the command prompt window that opens, type type the following commands:

Note: Type only the text in bold for the following commands.

Reset TCP/IP stack to installation defaults, type: netsh int ip reset reset.log

Reset WINSOCK entries to installation defaults, type: netsh winsock reset catalog

Reboot the machine.
