Cant open ports
I had VNC running for about 3 days, with the ports running fine, then all the sudden VNC stopped working so i uninstalled and removed all the ports from my router setup page. I reinstalled VNC and added the ports again and now only 1 of the ports is working according to a port check tool (5800). I tried to put my computer in DMZ but for some reason that didnt even allow the ports to pass.

Re: Cant open ports
Can the remote user ping your IP address?
Use this VNC checker to see if the VNC server is detected.

Are you using your public IP address to connect?

Re: Cant open ports
with the VNC chekcer it wont connect to it.
Checking you out at IP address "67.xxx.xxx.41"... 67.xxx.xxx.41 is accepting connections on Display 0 (TCP port 5900). 67.xxx.xxx.41 is not responding on Display 1. 67.xxx.xxx.41 is not responding on Display 2. 67.xxx.xxx.41 is not responding on Display 3. 67.xxx.xxx.41 is not responding on Display 4. 67.xxx.xxx.41 is not responding on Display 5. 67.xxx.xxx.41 is not responding on Display 6. 67.xxx.xxx.41 is not responding on Display 7. 67.xxx.xxx.41 is not responding on Display 8. 67.xxx.xxx.41 is not responding on Display 9. Scan of "67.xxx.xxx.41" is complete. Hit 'reload' or 'refresh' in your browser to scan again. and yes i am using my public ip to connect. Last edited by tjw616; 04-27-2009 at 05:50 PM. |

Re: Cant open ports
You're just asking for help, but not giving us any information to base that help on. If you actually followed the tutorial properly, it should work.
How about posting a screen shot of the configuration page for VNC from the computer at 5900 and 5901 so we have something to go on. To post a screen shot of the active window, hold the Alt key and press the PrtScn key. Open the Windows PAINT application and Paste the screen shot. You can then use PAINT to trim to suit, and save it as a JPG format file. To upload it to TSG, open the full reply window and use the Manage Attachments button to upload it here.
