Opening ports problem

Hello, i have a small problem with my ports i want to open the port 27011 however it doesnt seem to work at all.
i've put my Modem to DMZ
i've opened my ports in my router.
I've made exeptions in my vista firewall. and still the ports is blocked. i've tryed using the program PFPortChecker to see how my port was doing.. always closed. Any way i could fix this? thanks in advance.

Note that i am on Windows Vista 64Bit and using a Linksys BEFSR81 router

Re: Opening ports problem

Please supply the following info, exact make and models of the equipment please.

Name of your ISP (Internet Service Provider).
Make and exact model of the broadband modem.
Make and exact model and hardware version of the router (if a separate unit).
Model numbers can usually be obtained from the label on the device.
Connection type, wired or wireless.
If wireless, encryption used, (none, WEP, WPA, or WPA2)
Version and patch level of Windows on all affected machines, i.e. XP (Home or Pro), SP1-SP2-SP3, Vista (Home, Business, Ultimate), etc.
The Internet Browser in use, IE, Firefox, Opera, etc.

Please give an exact description of your problem symptoms, including the exact text of any error messages.

  • If you're using a wireless connection, have you tried a direct connection with a cable to see if that changes the symptoms?
  • For wireless issues, have you disabled all encryption on the router to see if you can connect that way?
  • Have you connected directly to the broadband modem to see if this is a router or modem/ISP issue?
  • If there are other computers on the same network, are they experiencing the same issue, or do they function normally?

On any affected computer, I'd also like to see this:

Hold the Windows key and press R, then type CMD (COMMAND for W98/WME) to open a command prompt:

Type the following commands on separate lines, following each one with the Enter key:

PING 206.190.60.37

PING yahoo.com

NBTSTAT -n

IPCONFIG /ALL

Right click in the command window and choose Select All, then hit Enter.
Paste the results in a message here.

If you are on a machine with no network connection, use a floppy, USB disk, or a CD-RW disk to transfer a text file with the information to allow pasting it here.

Re: Opening ports problem

Hi here is what i found. Notice that PC A is wired and laptop B is wireless.. both does not allow the port( note also that Laptop is wireless with the modem, however PCA is wired with the router which is plugged in the modem) so the source of problem is probably the modem itself. I also dont know what the Make is so i took all the information i could get and post them here, hope i found what was needed.

ISP : Sympatico
Router : Linksys BEFSR81
S/N: C2220E800141
MAC: 0014BF379227

Modem : 2WIRE 27014G-G
S/N: 480711145044
MAC: 00 1E C7 17 26 B0

Wired connection(PC A) and Wireless(laptop B)
Windows Vista 64bit Service Pack 1(PC A)
Windows Vista Basic family edition Service pack1 ( laptop B)
Internet browser used is : IE on both devices.
Wireless is set to WEP

These are on PC A

Re: Opening ports problem

The same port cannot be open to more than 1 computer/networking device.
If your setup is like this:
2Wire modem>Linksys router>PC/laptop,
then you will need to forward in the modem using the WAN/Internet IP of the Linksys router. The WAN or Internet IP of the Linksys router is listed on the status page of the router, and that is the IP to use when forwarding in the modem. Then being connected wired or wireless off the router you can forward to one computer using your static IP.

2wire Modem---Laptop
|
Linksys Router
|
PC

Re: Opening ports problem

What program are you trying to open the port for?
Like I said, it will not work to have the same port open to more than 1 network device.

Re: Opening ports problem

i see.. i decided to try to open the port individualy from my modem and plug my PC to the modem itself.. it seems to work for now, which mean the DMZ of my modem is not working. so that was the problem.. Thanks for your help! i can finaly open ports.. which make my router kinda useless though.
