Re: No Lan/No Wireless
TCP/IP stack repair options for use with Windows XP with SP2/SP3.
Start, Run, CMD to open a command prompt: In the command prompt window that opens, type type the following commands: Note: Type only the text in bold for the following commands. Reset TCP/IP stack to installation defaults, type: netsh int ip reset reset.log Reset WINSOCK entries to installation defaults, type: netsh winsock reset catalog Reboot the machine. Next, check these. Check your Services are Started on all PCs:
Note: You can check the services in Control Panel, Administrative Tools, Services. All of these services should be started, and their startup type should be automatic (or perhaps manual). If a service is not running, open it's properties and check the dependencies. Check each of the dependencies and see which one is preventing the service from running. Checking the event log is also a good idea here, there may be clues to what is failing. Finally, I'd like to see this. Hold the Windows key and press R, then type devmgmt.msc Please respond to all the following steps.

Re: No Lan/No Wireless
OK I followed the instructions but I was still unable to resolve this issue.
Ran both the commands and rebooted. Checked the services and made sure all that you indicated were started and running on auto. However I noticed that when I start some of the services and close the service.msc window and the reopen it, some of the services that were started were stopped. I also was not able to start the windows firewall. It say windows firewall/ics service cannot be started. access denied error code 5. I also checked the device manager and there were no conflicts. No reds anywhere. Checked event log and it seems something is going on with COM+ service although I could not understand what the conflict was. Thanks much for taking the time to look into this |
