Trying to let neighbors have wireless internet, but no luck :(

As stated in the title, I am trying to hook my neighbors up with wireless internet since all they have is Dial up and I have Cable. Here is the spew....I have went out and bought a Belkin Wireless G Router, a NetGear USB Max Range Wireless receiver and a D-Link AirPlus Wireless Range Extender. After getting everything to work on my 2 home computers, I moved the Extender to the far end of my house and took the USB receiver to my neighbors house. After I installed everything, their computer would pick up my network but the signal was really weak :( At random moments, it would connect just enough to load a website or 2 and then it would fade out. Being that I have already spent over $180 to try and hook my neighbors up, I am determined to get a good solid connection for them. After doing some research, I found the Pringles Can antenna and built one then connected it to the Repeater. Once it was installed, their computer saw a FULL signal but for some or reason, it would not connect. I tried re-arranging things and moving the antenna's but it still would not work. Since their computer connects at 192.168.0.3, I mess with the antenna, wait a few minutes, and run a Ping test on that IP. This tells me if they are connected or not even if it is too late to go over there or they are not home. I was able to ping it one time but the loss was horrible and it eventually faded out. This was before the DIY antennas were connected. I just built a tin can antenna and I am still not able to connect even with them having a full signal.

And to answer and other questions others may ask...
I can access the Repeater via it's IP address while it is on the other side of the house.
The USB receiver has a USB extension adapter which I have moved to the highest elevation around their computer.
I have tried pointing the DIY antennas directly at their computer area and a little to the left or right... no difference.
Their computer is roughly 120' straight line distance with 4 walls between the signal.
Modifications to their house or things hanging out their window is not an option.

I am completely stumped and need some advice / help. If I can get this working, my neighbors will pay me back for all the equipment I bought so I would really like to get this working! Thanks for any help in advance!

If your neighbors do not live in your house, then it may be against the TOS of your ISP. What is your ISP?

I don't think Comcast will allow that.

Is there a way you can draw out your network setup from ISP all the way to the computers? nothing fancy just a text based diagram of your network. And please note the model numbers on your routers and other devices please. It will help make us understand your layout and may make troubleshooting easier.

comcast does not allow it.

In addition it could be dangerous for you by letting your neighbors accessing your wireless. As the legal account owner, if they download child porn, illegal music, illegal software, if they visit watch sites, or do anything illegal, you will be the one with the cops on your doorstep. You will be the one who get handcuffed and carried off by the police until you can prove it was not you. You will lose your computer until detail forensic analysis can be done and you could permanently lose your reputation no matter how innocent you are. The above is just the tip of the ice burg as to what could happen.

No matter how much your trust and know your neighbor, you never really know them - especially what goes on behind their close doors.

One other thing, the wrong click of your mouse or improper security setting, they could have access to everything on your computer.

I'm not sure why this hasn't been locked yet.

Re: Trying to let neighbors have wireless internet, but no luck :(

Wow... I did not mean to start a fuss. My neighbor is a female book writer and uses the internet to send documents to her publisher. Her and my wife send pictures back and forth via email but it takes forever for it to load on their computer so letting them have access to a shared folder on the network would be easier. Since Dial up is so slow and my house is the last house on my street that can get cable internet for now, I figured I would try and be nice.

It would be fine to do if it wasn't against Comcast's TOS.

Sorry but this would fall under the illegal activities rule.
