Multiple modems?

Is it possible to have two cable modems hooked up in the same house? My main cable modem is connected upstairs. I want an internet connection for my blu ray player downstairs. Thought hooking up another cable modem would work.

Thanks,
Rut

Re: Multiple modems?

Because I don't have an easy way to run a cable from upstairs to down.

Also, how long a cable can you have on a router before running into problems?

Re: Multiple modems?

Another fly in the ointment is that a second cable modem will require a second ISP account with all that comes with it, like a monthly bill!

You would also get 2 public IP addresses.
