Another can't connect to my network thread

Hi, i have a vista home laptop SP1 running windows firewall. my other comptuers are xp home and xp pro, both running zonealarm. all connected through cable ethernet.
I had Comodo firewall pro running but it was a pain in the neck so i uninstalled it. when i had comodo file and printer sharing worked but now when i switch on my router and click on network in my start menu no shared folders pop up.

both zonealarm computers have addresses 192.168.2.10-12 set as trusted so you can file share and when i checked my IPv4 address it was 192.168.2.11.

no settings on the zonealarm computers have been changed. it was immediately after i uninstalled comodo that it stopped working.

also, whenever i switch on my router my dialup internet stops working. i'm still connected to internet but pages won't load.
any suggestions?

Re: Another can't connect to my network thread

Please describe the complete configuration.

Please supply the following info, exact make and models of the equipment please.

Name of your ISP (Internet Service Provider).
Make and exact model of the broadband modem.
Make and exact model and hardware version of the router (if a separate unit).
Model numbers can usually be obtained from the label on the device.
Connection type, wired or wireless.
If wireless, encryption used, (none, WEP, WPA, or WPA2)
Version and patch level of Windows on all affected machines, i.e. XP (Home or Pro), SP1-SP2-SP3, Vista (Home, Business, Ultimate), etc.
The Internet Browser in use, IE, Firefox, Opera, etc.

Please give an exact description of your problem symptoms, including the exact text of any error messages.

  • If you're using a wireless connection, have you tried a direct connection with a cable to see if that changes the symptoms?
  • For wireless issues, have you disabled all encryption on the router to see if you can connect that way?
  • Have you connected directly to the broadband modem to see if this is a router or modem/ISP issue?
  • If there are other computers on the same network, are they experiencing the same issue, or do they function normally?

On each computer, I'd also like to see this:

Hold the Windows key and press R, then type CMD (COMMAND for W98/WME) to open a command prompt:

Type the following commands on separate lines, following each one with the Enter key:

PING 206.190.60.37

PING yahoo.com

NBTSTAT -n

IPCONFIG /ALL

Right click in the command window and choose Select All, then hit Enter.
Paste the results in a message here.

If you are on a machine with no network connection, use a floppy, USB disk, or a CD-RW disk to transfer a text file with the information to allow pasting it here.

Re: Another can't connect to my network thread

sorry, i don't know thet exact model of my modem. all i know is that it is a speedstream router from bell canada. this is a wired connection between 2 xp pros sp3 and my laptop which is vista home sp1. both xp pro computers have the required network patch for vista to see on it. all using ie7, started using ie8 5 months after network problem popped up.

xp computers using zonealarm, vista using windows firewall. zonealarm set to medium and ip addresses 192.168.2.10-13 are set as trusted so can file share. windows firewall has file sharing set with privilieges.

both xp computers can file share and print fine. after uninstalling comodo firewall pro and used windows firewall, i can't connect anymore.
all computers in workgroup: WORKGROUP
both xp computers can access the vista public folder but vista laptop cannot connect to shared folders or print.

i'm still using dialup. it is 295.ca
