Sending but not receiving packets.

Thats my problem. Its a Dell demsion 2400. I tried using the Winsock help, new network cable, new NIC card, removing my router, all firewalls, calling my ISP, everything... Still no help. The computer will connect once and awhile for about 15 minutes, and then that will be all.
Please help.

I'll answer any questions to try and find the solution to this problem. As well as try anything (That I haven't already)

Re: Sending but not receiving packets.

Do you have DSL or Cable? Check the lights on the modem. What lights are on?
Have you tried to ipconfig /release then ipconfig /renew? Make sure your DNS is correct.
Your DSL or Cable modem may be bad.

Re: Sending but not receiving packets.

First, Thank you very much for the reply!

Second,
Cable: Working fine. I'm using my laptop with it right now.
All the correct lights are on, except "Stand by".
I've done the /release + /renew, lots. DNS settings are all right.

Re: Sending but not receiving packets.

Your welcome!!
So while, connected to the Cable modem directly you still get kicked after 15mins? Cause if so it may very well be the cable modem. How old is the modem?

Re: Sending but not receiving packets.

I'm not really getting "kicked" it just, stops.
It says its still connected, and is sending packets, its just not getting any back, but I can sit right beside that PC with my laptop, and be on Messenger, and browsing the net, with no problems. Go out to my other Desktop PC, and it's also working with no problems.

Please someone help...

Re: Sending but not receiving packets.

Hmmm...seems to be an issue with the pc then. What kind of anti-virus and firewall are you running? Try to disable your anti-virus and firewall for a few minutes to see if that was stopping you.

Also, instead of trying to use IE7 or FireFox to check your connection, try opening the command prompt and then entering the following exactly how i type it: ping www.google.com if you get 4 replies back then your connected to the internet. If you still cannot Browse with a browser then something is blocking your connection in the browser.

Also, while in the command prompt type: ipconfig /all and then copy all the results and post it. To copy just right click and then click select all and then paste it on the site.

Re: Sending but not receiving packets.

This computer is ment to be a server, currently there is no firewalls and no anti-virus (even windows firewall is disabled)

Also, all the information in command "ipconfig /all" is correct, however, when I get back home (currently on vaction) I'll copy and paste the results into here.
