Mistake Computer cannot see domain

Hello,
I'm hoping that someone will know the answer to this one.
I run a network with 10 computers and 1 server, all of the workstations are running Win2kPro(SP2), the server is running Win2KServer(SP2). up until a few days ago everything was fine, but now 1 of the workstations cannot see the domain, and I cannot ping it with IP or comp name. To my knowledge nothing has changed, and the ethernet wire is OK. I have all of the computers hooked up to an AOpen 24port switch, it also seems to be recieving a signal from the "bad" computer(that is the port light is green) I've tried reboots, different ethernet cables, unplugging the ethernet and rebooting. I have no idea. Thanks in advance to all who reply.

Hi Aen! Welcome.

On the "bad" machine, is the IP address set statically? If so, can you ping the loopback address - 127.1.0.1? Can you ping itself? These two will verify the stack and the NIC.

Check the duplex setting. Might want to change it from autonegotiate to be either full or half. Same with the speed - 10 or 100.

HTH!

Ok, I pinged the computer with the loopback and recieved no errors. I removed the computer from the domain and added it to a workgroup, rebooted, and tried to add it back to the domain, and I get a destination unreachable error. Any thoughts?

Can you ping the interface itself? Can you ping the default gateway or another machine on the network?

It times out on both the default gateway and the other computers.

To make matters even more strange, I plugged a linksys router into the switch and made it the "bad" computers default gateway, I then changed the computer from static IP to DHCP, and rebooted, the computer recieved a DHCP IP address from the router, but I still cannot ping the bad computer and it cannot ping anything(not even the router). I think I'm opting for a re-install of Win2K. Unless anyone has another suggestion.

Try putting in a known good NIC. This might help.
