Router/Multiple Computer Issue
Greetings, denizens of TSF! I come bearing my third problem for which I require assistance.
I have a Linksys WRT54-somthing-or-other router with wireless and wired on it, I'm typing this from my laptop wirelessly. Plugged into my router are 3 computers, known henceforth as the following: a black one a few years old, an old beige one, and a newer one (named Tardbucket). Wirelessly attached to the router are my mother's laptop and my own laptop. The laptops and Tardbucket (newest desktop) have no issues whatsoever connecting to the router, they can access the internet flawlessly, and with rather fast speeds. However, the old one (from what I understand, one of its hard drives fried) could not connect to the internet at all, and the black one has the same issue. In the network connections area it shows my LAN connection, with that lovely yellow icon saying "Limited or no Connectivity", which everyone loves to see. The issue is that they're all attached to the same router, and the cables work fine when tested, yet only SOME of the computers can access the internet. If I recall correctly, both of the non-working computers had no problems at this time last month, and nothing has changed in either of them since then, yet they both have issues now. The black computer was moved about 40 feet, however it still is connected to the same router in the same port, now with a longer (but perfectly fine) ethernet cable and only now has issues. No settings in the configuration have changed. Any thoughts at all? Possibly 2 broken network cards at the same time (unlikely)? Repairing connection does nothing for me. Any help is appreciated. Thanks in advance for reading my brick of text ![]() EDIT: Oh yeah, when I connect the black computer to the router, the light on the router DOES come on, so the router sees that it's connected to something. It lights up on all ports, so all ports are indeed working fine. Last edited by FridgeMunky2; 03-14-2009 at 03:16 PM. |

EDIT: Just did a rollback, same thing. I can send packets like nothing else, but I receive 64 packets when I try to repair connection. That's the ONLY time I receive packets besides when I access the router's settings. Last edited by FridgeMunky2; 03-14-2009 at 04:24 PM. |
