Multiple Wireless Connection Lag
Hey all, new to the site. I have an issue that I want to bring up. I've poked around the Networking Support forum a little bit and can't seem to find an answer to my problem.
In our house we have three computers: The main computer is upstairs and hooked up to the cable modem. The other two computers are downstairs and hooked-up via wireless connection (wireless PCI card) and the third, which is mine. Our router is a Wireless-G 2.4GHz 54mbps 4 port Linksys router (model: WRT54G) The second computer runs a wireless internet card, Im not sure if it's Linksys or not. On my computer I run a USB wireless adapter (Wireless-B 2.4GHz 802.11B model: WUSB11 v2.0) My drivers are up-to-date. What the problem is, is that I play an online game (WoW) and have no issues what-so-ever, even when doing player vs. player matches or doing 10+ character instances. As soon as my brother/sister hop onto their computer the entire network just slows down and I'm getting an average of 78% packet loss. I used a program called Ping Plotter to see if it was my ISP which I thought it was at first, but when I noticed that whenever they go on their computer and go on the internet, use MSN, play any online games such as starcraft... the entire network just goes to hell. I think I may know what the problem is and that is that I think that the packets are being entangled in the wireless connection and causing the entire network to lag. I really don't know what to do as I have a limited knowledge about computer networking. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you!! MrPhooey Last edited by MrPhooey; 03-13-2009 at 05:00 PM. |

Re: Multiple Wireless Connection Lag
sorry I forgot to edit the one above... I was going to add: Would it be possible that if I got a new wireless-G adapter instead of a wireless-B that it would help?
