Major Network Issue

First off our network is setup like this :

Modem
l
Switch ---------------
l l
Problem PC Router
l
Two Other PCS

The router we have is very constrictive towards games and hosting them, and port forwarding has never worked too well, so the problem PC is connected right to the modem (Through the switch)

So the problem began when I got this string of viruses. They infected my Gaming PC (The problem One) and I was quick to run antivirus software to get rid of it. It worked, and the virus symptoms were gone. Little did I know I guess it left a rootkit or something in there because a few days later It had become a spam gateway. I recieved a warning from my ISP and decided I would just reformat the problem PC. This normally works as an absolute last ditch effort for me. Now we get to the problem. This PC has been reformatted but It cant receive a working IP from the switch, for some reason it keeps getting this 10.84.6.168 crap. Whenever I try to use the internet I just get a generic Cogeco warning explaining why I don't have internet, which varies between a breach of terms and them not being able to find the modem on their network (The two other PCs still browse fine at this point, their really slow though) If I connect the problem PC to the router it works fine but Is quite slow, and I would prefer it to be on the outside.

I guess what I'm saying is that after getting a virus and getting rid of it (I reformatted) the PC that had it cant connect to the internet (It keeps getting ips like 10.84.6.168, not the normal cogeco ones ex 24.141.7.23) and the two other PCs connection is alot slower than it used to be. (I also tried fiddling with the one problem PCs MAC address before reformatting, I saw that it was receiveing a massive amount of connections from one IP and thought if I could get my ip changed they couldnt connect anymore.)

If anyone can help me or offer some insight it would be great, 6 hours of trying to figure this out is trying my patience.

Re: Major Network Issue

First step would be to give us some details. Normally, you can only connect a single device to a residential broadband account, and you're trying to connect two, which is probably part of the issue.

Instead of connecting as you have, I'd figure out proper port forwarding and connect all the machines to the router. You can also configure the router to put the gaming machine in the DMZ, which is basically opening all ports.

Re: Major Network Issue

it almost sounds like your isp has recognised your pc was infected and has marked your comp as infected, 10.* is a private ip range not a publically accessible one.
so have you contacted your isp and asked them to confirm they ahvent done anything =)
if you ahve changed your MAC then you may also have to contat your isp so they can put your new mac in their lists.

im afraid without a lot more info i cant really be much more help.
