Re: strange problem

You say 'when I use the wifi'. Does it work OK with a wired connection?

Can you give us a few more details? What ISP are you using, and what form of Internet connection do you have? What is the model of your router? Does it connect to the Internet directly or through a separate modem; if the latter, what is its make and model?

Are there other computers on the network? Do they connect OK? Can you share files and/or printers?

I know that is a lot of questions, but without this information any answers we give you will be just guesswork.

Re: strange problem

Hello

Internet is unique in the fact that if one works -- they ALL work. I do not think you are actually connected to the internet - and in fact are looking at a COOKIE -- or cached image.

You must first make sure to clean ALL COOKIES and INETERNET history within internet options. You can find that in Control Panel.

Also, you will need to learn to PING ---- look up on google -- this will let you test connectivity, assuming the wireless card is working properly.

So I dont think you are actually connected.

#1 Assure installation of wireless if correct if desktop -- Laptop - make sure drivers are correct.

#2 If correct, Make sure the proper software is installed to control wireless sessions. Windows comes with one by default "Windows Wireless"

#3 Make sure you recieve a DHCP address from the WIRELESS ROUTER
this will be a (most cases) 192.168.1.* (*) means any number usually between 100 and 254 if you 169.*.*.* this is NOT a GOOD address -- this is a loopback ...

sorry if to technical but this is how you troubleshoot wireless -- just as a reference to follow

Re: strange problem

I'd agree with the previous poster that this is a wireless networking rather than an Internet access problem.
