wpn824 netgear router losing connection
I have a wpn824 netgear router. It has the latest firmware. I recently bought an hp laptop. I have the laptop connected wireless and my dell desktop wired. I use WPA encryption. I have been constantly losing connection the past week. I can not ping my router or any other sites by ip or by name. I lose connection on both desktop (xp) and laptop (vista). I still however get the same ip address from the router. I have an sa dpx2203 emta. The modem has been online with no loss. No T3 or T4 timeouts. If I connect directly to the modem I never lose service. With the router I lose connection and have to disconnect and reconnect router for internet to work again. The router is not overheating or even getting really hot. I do live in an apartment and I do see another wireless network nearby. I have tried changing the channel and switching from auto 108 to b and g only. I have also lowered the mtu from 1500 to 1492, and 1400. I have cable internet and not dsl. I have also set router with mac filtering. Any other suggestions? As Im typing this I am currently going with over an hour of not dropping connection. I can post my ip if needed but it does not change when I lose connection, I still get the same router 192 address.
Oh I am not configured with a static ip. If anyone knows a fix or suggestion let me know. |

Re: wpn824 netgear router losing connection
Well, the only thing I can suggest, other than a replacement, is to reset to factory defaults and reconfigure the router. Sometimes that will fix oddball issues.
