Linksys WAP54g Issue
I have a wireless network running in my house. The main computer has internet from a PCI card that connects to an antenna on the house and connects to a wireless network. The WAP54G connects to the main computer from the computer's ethernet port. This setup has worked for over a year, but yesterday a power failure caused the access point to stop working. The Activity light is off, but the others are on. I tried re-running the setup, but it doesn't see the access point on the network, so I can't use the setup to configure it. Any ideas? Thanks!

Re: Linksys WAP54g Issue
Perhaps there was damage done as a result of the power outage. I'd try resetting the WAP to factory defaults to see if that works, otherwise it may toast.
Another question, is the WAP running off the main computer to share the internet connection with other computers?

Re: Linksys WAP54g Issue
I had issue when my router was being really strange (wireless reset to factory default, wired conection just not working, etc.) I did a firmware upgrade and that got it back on track. I would suggest doing a factory default thing first though

Re: Linksys WAP54g Issue
I always recommend a factory reset whenever you upgrade firmware.

Re: Linksys WAP54g Issue
Thanks for the replies everyone :) I've tried holding the reset button for 30 seconds, but nothing new happens. The IPs aren't reset or anything like that and the lights on the front don't even blink. I've tried unplugging it for minutes at a time, messing with IP settings in Windows, and hard resetting it several times. If I set an IP and a gateway, explorer doesn't find it when I type in the gateway in the address bar. Any other suggestions?

Re: Linksys WAP54g Issue
And also to answer your question - Yea the AP was just to share internet with the computers in the house. And another thing that may not have been clear - Windows sees a wired network connection just like normal, only the setup for the AP doesn't, so I can configure IP addresses and all that. Thanks again for the replies!

Re: Linksys WAP54g Issue
I have one of those .. unfortunately have had to leave it on the side and use another one since it would seem to work fine until I tried to set it up with security. I did upgrade the firmware which was a pain since it only seems to be available from a UK site and I was searching the US site.
You might see if a firmware upgrade might help you, I had a version 1 running at 5Volts and not the version 2 running at 12Volts. I think my WAP got upset when I inadvertently dug it out of the cupboard where it had lain for a couple of years unused then could find no info on the power pack it required. Searched the net and the official site said 12Volts so that's what I used .. it didn't work properly so I went looking again and found the "other" official site that said it was 5Volts. By which time it was probably too late. It does do a lot of stuff but just seems to hang when I want to change a few settings. Not secure so not being used.
