Repeated router reset
Frequently when I want to go online I get a message in Explorer 7 that a connection cannot be made. When I run the suggested diagnostic, I am told to to reset my cable modem and netgear (wgr614) router. After doing this, I am able to establish an Internet connection. Because I must do this frequently, I tried to just rest the router and that also did the trick. I am using XP. My system was working fine for over a year and now this problem has raised its ugly head. I must also go through this routine with my laptop.

Re: Repeated router reset
Perhaps your router is showing signs of failing. I'd try to update the firmware of your router by going to the mfg website and see if there are any updates available. The updates are designed to fix problems identified with the product after it was originally manufactured. The other things to look at are location of the router. Is it getting hot? Is there another router in the area that could be conflicting with yours since it could be on the same channel? Most wireless routers have the ability to change the channel it's working on, typically there are 11 channels available. If this happens with plugged directly to it, obviously this is a moot point, but it's worth looking at and mentioning all options.
