msn messenger chat problem

Since i set my wireless network up for my laptop i have been having problems sending and recieving instant messages on both msn messenger and skype, i can usually send and reieve message when i first log in but after a few the message i send does not go to other person and the same happens when other person sends me a message, my wirless connection says the signal is excellent and i can use other websites whilst this happens with out any problems, i also have windows firewall turned off and im using norton.
Any help would be great.

try disabling Norton

Would turning norton off not leave my laptop vunerable?
Anyone else got any idead as to what the problem could be?

just disable it while trying to use MSN and only talk to trusted people see if it works.

you using norton's firewall?

yes using norton `s firewall, never use the windows one, will have a go with it turned off
