Need Genius Help on Wireless Internet-work!!!

Hello,

I'm having a huge problem. I've gone through two wireless set-ups, two different companies lame tech support, tech support at dell and my ISP. With NO Luck...

Here is the problem:

I have a router hooked up to the internet --
I have a laptop with a Wireless card ---

everything is configured correctly. All hardware is detected, shows up in working order, etc.

The laptop finds the network and allows me to log in. It logs in with "Excellent" signal strength.

I goto Internet Explorer -- get a "Cannot find page" -- No net acces, even though the network is detected and connected.

Goto CMD prompt: I can ping IP addresses, but I CANNOT ping domain names (ie www.yahoo.com, google.com, etc.) I got an error message "host cannot be found")

Also, if I run ipconfig I find that I get a good Ip address on and off.... it seemed to be working, but now it's a 169. address again..

very, very confused. Any help would be greatly appreciated...!!!!!!!

This sounds like a DNS problem to me. You may want to contact your ISP, ask them the IP address of the DNS servers they use. Then plug those values in, under your wireless connection under the TCP/IP protocol.
