I have a Dell 1525 (Vista
) with a 1390 Wlan mini-card(broadcom) and a Netgear 834b router conected to an Arris cable modem(comcast). I have a desktop hardwired and my laptop has been successfully wireless for over a year-now nothing... My laptop can pickup and connect to a dozen wireless networks all over my neighborhood but will no longer connect to my own! I get a week signal error and sometimes it just isn't there at all. I updated drivers, re-installed the router, tried it with and w/o security. I'm at the end of my skillset and my stupid warranty expired 3 weeks ago!!!!(conspiracy? ) Anyway I've searched a bunch of forums and have seen this exact problem but never see a successful solution. Anyone have an idea or had this issue? Thx, JD |

Re: demonic wireless...
Make sure that you don't have other routers in the local area on the same channel. You can try changing the channel on yours to see if that helps. I've had clients that had routers on both sides of their house and their internet connection was VERY hit and miss when it would work. Changing the channel was the ticket to making a more stable connection in those cases.

Re: demonic wireless...
No luck... I tried setting the channel to 1 & 6 while turning all security off- my Netgear doesn't have 11. Also tried 'auto' still nothing. I did notice that my laptop could 'see' the router and it indicated a very strong signal but still would not let me connect. Is it possible that the router is just dead? Or would it not even broadcast a signal if that were the case?
Any help is appreciated. Going on like 5 days without wireless in my house and I'm starting to sweat and get the shakes...I need your help! |

Re: demonic wireless...
All routers sold in the US have channels 1 through 11, so your router does indeed support channel 11. Don't use AUTO, that's a notoriously unreliable setting.
