Can't share the internet connection! Please read..Wlan and ethernet LAN.
I have a Dell desktop(A), running on Windows XP service pack 3, AND another personal desktop (B) running on the same platform. Both PCs are located at two ends of my house. I usually connect to the internet from my dell desktop via a PCI wifi adapter, which then connects to my router... The problem is..
I want to connect the personal desktop B to the internet too via a network bridge through a LAN cable connected to my Dell. However, I've encountered several problems.. 1) The MAIN problem is my wifi does not work when I enable the LAN connection in 'network connections'. Why does this happen?? The meaning of does not work means I cannot browse through the internet at all..there doesn't seem to be an internet connection, though I am still connected to my router. 2) When I start a network bridge, my wireless icon at the bottom of the screen shows a red cross, which..obviously means I'm not connected to my router. I still cannot get a single internet connection on both PCs. How can I rectify this problem? Is there another method other than bridging to connect both PCs via a LAN cable? |
