VPN over router problem?

i set up a winxp pro/ubuntu dualboot computer to have the same ip behind a NAT router; both oses run a vpn server, so as long the computer is on i can log in :P

however, the problem is that i can log in from only within my intranet, which makes this kinda pointless. the nat router is connected directly to my cable modem, which has a static ip. i assume my problem can easily be fixed if i enable port fowarding on my router.

HOWEVER, FOR SECURITY REASONS, I CAN NOT DO SO

is there another way to acess the vpn server from the internet short of messing with the router?

You need to enable IPSEC passthrough on the router. If the router is blocking the VPN and you can't change it, you're out of luck.
