Vista to XP ICS Network Problem
I am trying to set up an ICS connection between two computers. The host is running vista and has an Network adapter connected to the internet. I installed a second network adapter, "D-Link DFE-530TX+ PCI Fast Ethernet Adapter", gave it a Static IP and Subnet Mask or 192.168.0.1 and 255.255.255.0.
The second machine is running XP with an Intell 82562V Network adapter set to detect the IP automatically. ICS is selected on both machines. The problem is that both machines indicate that the Network Cable is Unplugged. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks |

Re: Vista to XP ICS Network Problem
ICS should be used on only ONE machine, NOT both of them! In addition, the "cable unplugged" probably means you don't have a crossover Ethernet cable, it won't work with a plain patch cable.
Take a look at this Microsoft ICS (Internet Connection Sharing tutorial.
