External access to internal home NW
Hi all, new here so be gentle! Here's my problem...
I have a cable modem and Buffalo DSL router. Easy so far! I also have a cable TV box connected to said router that allows me to access the box from my PC and change settings and various other things. What I would like to do is connect to my router from outside my home network and connect to the IP of the cable box to change settings etc. Is this possible? If it is, how?! thanks in advance!! |

Re: External access to internal home NW
You'll have to have the cable box on a static IP address, or use the DHCP reservations capability to insure it retains the same IP address. Then you would port forward the required ports to access the Cable box.
Of course, the exact make/model of all of these units would be real helpful here, as well as exactly how this cable box connects to the router.
