Hi!
I have Netgear(WGT 624) wirelss router attached to my cable bradband modem. Then my pc 1 (win xp pro - sp 2)is attached to this router with cable. My pc-2 (win 2 k adv server sp-4 )with netgear wireless NIC in another room can surf internet without any problem but cannot see pc-1 in show computer near me.(get error path not found) and from pc-1 i can see PC-2 but cannot access it ( get error --not authorize). Name of the workgroup is same in both the pc's. pc-1 has firewall activated ,( but deactivating it also did not help). i have on pc-1 EZ firewall installed.(do i need to first add pc-2's name and ip adre in trusted zone ?)I will try it and let u know! Any help is highly appreciated. Shantu Austria Last edited by shantu : 01-15-2005 at 07:35 PM. |

Yes, for both computers you have to add the opposite computers IP address in the trusted zone, and you usually have to tell your firewall to make your computer visibible (such as zonealarm, dont tell it to be on high security, put it on medium), if doing that doesnt work make sure you didnt name your network mshome (the default in windows), for some reason that network name didnt work out for me, but i dont know maybe it will work for you.

I know exactly what you are decribing and here is what I did hopfully it will work for you. On each of the computers re-install the file and printer sharing client. You can get there by right-clicking on the connection that you have and scroll down to properties. Then click or highlight the file and printer sharing item and click install.
