Roll Eyes Weird?

I use my Acer Extensa 5220 (Sp2 XP, 1 Gb Ram) to wirelessly connect to the net at home via our router. However, at any WiFi hotspot, such as McDonalds, the connection which is unsecured, I cannot once connected use the net? Tried 2 different browsers, plus FTP program, and Skype will not activate as green.
DHCP is set to "automatic IP assignment, as opposed to home static IP, and "repair" has also been tried after connection is done. So saying - connected with good signal (all protocols except WINS seen in properties), but no net access?
At my local PC shop, they connected to their inhouse wireless hotspot OK?

I just don't know what's going on?

Thumbs Up Re: Weird?

I did a driver update, installed SP3, and the issue cleared itself. I still don't know exactly went on?
Last week I edited properties to allow auto IP and DNS allocation, plus "repair" and no joy? This weekend, it works!! Bah!
