Browser Timing Out...

Hi there,

I have a problem and have no clue how to fix it or what is causing it.

There is one forum that I am a member of, that has suddenly (in the past 3 days) stopped loading and just keeps timing out. I can get onto every other website in my bookmarks except this forum. I use Mozilla Firefox, and even tried it in IE, but it still didn't work.

I know it's not the forum that has a problem, as I have emailed friends who say they are still on there, and my boyfriend can see it from his works computer.

I have tried a system restore, ran various malware, antivirus scans and such and still nothing.

Any advice would be much appreciated. I am not very experienced in computer stuff.

Restart you computer in "Safe Mode with Network" then try accessing the website again.

Re: Browser Timing Out...

Restart your computer > while your computer boots up, keep on tapping the F8 key until you see a menu then select "Safe Mode with Network"

apparently you system is different from most. F8 is the default key, but some vendors has changed it. Who is the maker of your computer.

Re: Browser Timing Out...

Well I gave it a go on safe mode, and still the browsers (I tried both) keep timing out!! I am now wondering if the board admin have made some changes to the settings on the board, and that is clashing with my settings. Can that happen?

Thanks for all your help Tosh. If you have any other suggestions please feel free to post them.

I didn't consider that, but you have a good point. In other words, it's possible that they banned you. One way to determine that is to access and login the website on another computer.

They haven't banned me. I told them I am asking here on the Tech forum for help. They are all baffled too as to why this is happening.

I have logged into the forum from another computer, it's just the one at home that this is happening to.

Re: Browser Timing Out...

Hold the Windows key and press R, then type CMD to open a command prompt:

In the command prompt window that opens, type type the following command:

PING unionblack.co.uk

Right click in the command window and choose Select All, then hit Enter to copy the contents to the clipboard.
Paste the results in a message here.

If you are on a machine with no network connection, use a floppy, USB disk, or a CD-RW disk to transfer a text file with the information to allow pasting it here.

Try anonymous surf to see if you can access the forum. If you are able to load the forum, it's probably means that your IP have been blocked somewhere outside internet.

Go to http://proxify.com and paste your website.
