I am sales manager and IT director for a small local owned company. We have 2 offices in seperate cities. All of our computers are running windows xp home edition. We have a "server" at each location that stores data from our networked computers per location. I want to set up a vpn or a remote client software that will allow us to access the computers at office B from office A. Ex: office A logs on to computer at office B, performs data entry in company program for office B, and data saves to server at office B. I've researched several options, however, in trying to be cost efficient it seems like the remote client software (looking at RealVNC-Free Version) would be the best choice. I am unsure as to whether this will actually work for my purpose or not and if I will need to upgrade the router at office B (Linksys Wireless-G). Office A has a 16 port Linksys VPN Capable router that I installed, but Office B's router is not VPN Capable. Also wondering if I will need to order static IP's. Would prefer to stay away from 3rd party dns hosting. Any help, advice, suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Re: 2 office network setup, vpn or remote client?
I'd get another VPN router and use that instead of counting on free software, but that's my inclination when protecting company assets.
