OS: Vista SP1 - PCLinuxOS 2007

Limited Connectivity XPSP3

My three computers (Win2k, Vista and PCLinuxOS 2007) connect to my router no problems. My friend had an issue with her laptop (XPSP3) with both Wireless and LAN connections. It shows Limited or No Connectivity.

IPCONFIG shows the following
Quote:
Ethernet adapter Local Area Connection:
Connection-specific DNS Suffix:
Autoconfiguration IP Address: 169.254.59.51
Subnet Mask: 255.255.0.0
IP Addresss: ?
Default Gateway:

Ethernet adapter Wireless Network Connection 2:
Connection-specific DNS Suffix:
Autoconfiguration IP Address: 169.254.181.122
Subnet Mask: 255.255.0.0
IP Address: ?

Tunnell adapter Teredo Tunneling Pseudo-Interface:

I have uninstalled both with no joy.
Says it receives but send packets. But even at that the sent is 9 or 10 packets.
Tried a repair on both to no avail.
Just uninstalled Norton.
Disabled Windows Firewall. No other firewall present.
Both are set to Obtain address Automatically.
I saw somewhere to do "netsh winsock reset" but it just says MSWSOCK.dll was not found, try reinstalling ....

Re: Limited Connectivity XPSP3

This is the official repair for XP SP2/SP3. If this comes up in error, something is corrupted. If this comes up with an error, we'll have to take stronger measures.

First, run the Norton Removal Tool to get rid of any remnants of Norton.

TCP/IP stack repair options for use with Windows XP with SP2/SP3.

Start, Run, CMD to open a command prompt:

In the command prompt window that opens, type type the following commands:

Note: Type only the text in bold for the following commands.

Reset TCP/IP stack to installation defaults, type: netsh int ip reset reset.log

Reset WINSOCK entries to installation defaults, type: netsh winsock reset catalog

Reboot the machine.

If this fails, try SFC and then do the stack repair again: SFC Tutorial
