Connecting 2 networks via wireless router?
Hi,
Was wondering if someone could help me connect 2 home networks. What I have is 1 network of computers connected via a Dlink wirerless router(they are all connected via cat5) the wireless gives internet to some game systems. This is connected to the internet via a cable connection to the router. The other network is just 1 computer on the other side of the house connected directly via a DSL cable modem into a nic. That computer also has an additional wireless nic in it. What I would like to do is keep both connected to the internet as they are, but I would like to be able to connect to the DSL computer from my other network via the wireless connection for file sharing and remote desktop. Both systems are Windows XP Pro SP3. I'm unsure how to go about that. Any help would be great. Thanks! |

Re: Connecting 2 networks via wireless router?
If you install a wireless NIC into that machine and machine and manually configure it with just a static IP address and subnet mask that matches the subnet of the wireless router, you can connect. Leave the Default Gateway and DNS addresses blank on this manual configuration and Internet access will still be through the wired connection.
