AOL Question
Not sure if I'm in the correct forum, but here goes.
I have a free AOL account (AOL reqd to access my work computer system). Since I have free acct., I can't get any live tech support. Here's my problem. When I send an email AOL tacks on little statements of advertising and such immediately following by name/sign-off of the email. An example from today, immediately following my name AOL tacked on: "Inauguration '09 : Get complete coverage from the nation's capital." Not a big deal. But if I wanted to say this, I would have typed it myself. I got an email back from an associate enquiring why I wrote the above, and if I was going. At first I didn't know what he was talking about. He sent me a copy of the email he had received. The way it is tacked gives the appearance that it is something I added to my own email. Here's my question. Is there a way to prevent this from occuring? Thanks in advance. |

Re: AOL Question
Nope, that's one of the "benefits" of using AOL.
Get yourself a better email service, I use GMAIL for such purposes. You don't need AOL to send/receive mail, or you can use the AOL account for just "required" purposes.

I figured I probably didn't have much recourse. A friend has been urging me to dump AOL, or as he puts it "Rid youself of the cancerous AOL" Maybe it's time to take his advice.Thx again |

Re: AOL Question
I agree 100% with your friend. AOL is worse than a virus, because it's harder to clean it off your computer.
